We had family dinner on Labor Day and Shad and Jen's house. The kids loved playing together, especially at the park. Layla even snuggled with Kevin for a bit-- but Evelyn didn't want to be left out either!
We fit in a last swim day-- thanks to the nice warm weather!
Violet's teacher sent this picture and note home the first day of school. She is such a thoughtful teacher!
Dear Terrah and Kevin,
I just wanted to let you know that Violet had a great first day of school! She was happy, engaged and seemed to be having a great time. I was so impressed at how well behaved Violet is and how well she followed directions.
One of the activities I had the children do was to introduce themselves to other children who had the same color of playdough that they had. I was nervous that Violet wouldn't be too thrilled with that idea, but she participated so well and met lots of new friends! I had fun working with her on her name writing today and know she is going to be amazing in Kindergarten.
Thanks for letting me be her teacher this year!

P.S. This is a picture of Violet with her new friend, Katie
Evelyn spent some time talking on the phone!
Kissie and Pata came over for Sunday dinner. The kids were super sneaky while tying their toes together with pipe cleaners.
Preschool can sure tucker a little guy out! The drive home is about 4 minutes long... he must have been tired!
Cora made this poster to tell about herself for her spotlight week at school.
Evelyn loves to look at books and be read to!
Chillin' on a Sunday afternoon
We finally had a cool day that was perfect for over roasting some tomatoes. Good thing, because my kitchen counters were getting way too full! We have learned a lot from having a garden this year, and it was been pretty successful too!
We spent a Friday afternoon with Kissie doing a Temple Square scavenger hunt. We fit in some picture taking sessions too.
We got this cute picture of Cora and Violet.
So of course I wanted to get one with Luke and Evelyn. Finally we got a pretty good one
after a bunch of more telling brother/sister ones like this!
Dad and Kevin had fun at a football game
Evelyn demonstrating her mess-making skills while eating a yummy cookie Pata dropped off for us from Kissie.
While Pata and Kevin were at the game, Evelyn decided some late-night snuggling was in order.
Luke is still adjusting to not taking afternoon naps. He had a big day at preschool sports football and preschool class, and fell asleep on the comfy spot on the stairs at 3:00 in the afternoon.
We got our first snow of the season on September 27th!
The kids took turns with strep and colds for a week in September. I was so happy to get out of the house one evening and watch Austenland with Emily for her birthday outing. Lots of laughter does help to unwind! We had lots of fevers and set a household PR for draining a bottle of liquid advil. Thank goodness for antibiotics!
The stars have aligned! (along with a lot of helping hands). After 4.5 years of wishing and hoping, it finally worked out for me to plan a visit my brother and his family in England! Now for the 3 week countdown--and all the planning that goes along with leaving your family for 9 days!
I got a lot of great comments on this post from moms who have different methods to stack the deck and make Candyland games short!
Oh the agony of drawing the gingerbread man card when you are nearly to King Kandy's Kastle. Agony for Luke because he has to go back, agony for me because Candyland game time has doubled. This game might get lost today!

I'm finally attacking the pile of stuffed animals needing repairs that have been accumulating for the last few months... Channeling my inner Doc McStuffins.
