Moab, part 1 Arches National Park

We drove to Moab on Monday afternoon. It was so fun to see Keyton, Liz, Emeline, Jarom, Wes, and Chase again! It was great to be all together as a family. The kids begged to swim in the hot tub (hot hot!) and we had a yummy dinner.

Tuesday was our day to see Arches National Park. I had been once before, just driving through on a work trip. It was great to be there and really see a lot more of the park! First up was hiking to Delicate Arch. It was hot, but the kids did great and the views were amazing!

Here are the boys: Wesley, Jarom, and Luke, at the beginning of the hike. Luke was so thrilled to have boys his age around to play with!

The whole family-- all 19 of us!
All the big grandkids. Luke wasn't thrilled with pictures at this point, but some pretzels cheered him up a few minutes later.
Kissie and Pata with all the grandkids. They did so much to plan and pay for this trip, just so we could have the chance to spend consecutive time all together as a family doing something fun. Priceless picture!
Our little family-- we made it!! Even with Evelyn insisting I carry her backpack much of the way!

Kevin and Evelyn, watching us come back from our walk up to the arch.
Headed back. That's our group, out in the middle of nowhere! It looks like that, at least.

Next up was a picnic lunch and a hike to pine tree arch. Unfortunately, but this time most of the kiddos were super hot and not happy hikers. Still cute though! We caught a piece of shade here.
It's a bit hard to see in this picture, but there's Pine Tree Arch.

There were a couple of other arches off that trail, but we decided to go back.

Luckily enough, we decided to stop by sand dune arch on the way out, even though we were all hot and tired. It was so cool! Literally and figuratively. It was a shady spot, clouds came by to help shade us from the hot sun, and it was like a big sand box inside. The kids had fun playing in the sand, shimmying in the small slots beside the arch, and climbing the rocks. It was the perfect rest stop.

On the way back we did a quick stop at Balanced Rock, and then a long stop at the Windows Section: Cove of Caves and Double Arch. It was another great shady spot with lots of places for the kids to climb and explore, and not far off the road at all.

Even though it was hot, it was still a great day to explore and see a really cool part of Utah!
