Hula Hoop

I saw Cora doing an odd dance while I was getting ready this morning and had to capture it on camera. Turns out she was hula hooping, only with a very tiny hula hoop! I guess we know what we're bringing home from the next trip to the toy store!

Christmas Eve Eve

And thus begins my Christmas posts. We spent 4 nights in Park City with most all of my family (we missed you Keyton and Liz!) and had a lovely time. It was great to get away a bit, but not too far away to have it be a hassle to travel... and not too far away from the hospital to be worrisome. Not that anything happened with the baby! The girls loved all the activities and being with family-- just the other day I overheard Cora say to Violet "Let's play going to Park City"-- so cute. Kevin and I didn't end up taking too many pictures, but luckily we were with other excellent photographers, so we came home with over 300 photos to sort through, a good many which I've posted, so you'll have to scroll and scroll!

We left for Park City on Wednesday afternoon. Kissie was there early and had everything set up, and ready for us all to craft, craft, craft! I haven't done craft projects with the girls forever, and they were in heaven, especially with Shad and Jen there to help them out too. We decorated stockings and made ornaments for the tree while Pata and Kevin skied.
It really turned out cute! And it was nice to have a tree at Christmas, even on vacation.
After dinner, Santa made a final visit... Violet still is not thrilled.
Cora was a little apprehensive this go around too...
Kevin and Cora worked on Cora's first gingerbread house.
Look at that concentration!

Violet mostly just tried to shove as much candy in her mouth as possible.
Cora with her finished project, which unfortunately, only stayed upright until the next morning.
Shad and Jen with their masterpiece. Jen is now more than halfway through her pregnancy! They are having a little girl in April.
Movie watching and relaxing before bedtime.

Sledding

Cora and Violet were lucky enough to go sledding twice in Park City, and especially lucky to be sledding with loving relatives who would haul them up the hill over and over and over. It was just a small hill inbetween the ski condos, but perfect for the kiddos... and some of the adults too! There were so many perfect pictures of the girls' expressions. Cora was in heaven the whole time, Violet didn't like it the first day, but loved it the second. She really only cried on the second day when she was at the bottom of the hill wanting to get back to the top ASAP!

Getting ready to go!
Go, go, go! Violet in awe.
The hill
One of my favorite pictures of the weekend.
Getting a ride up-- lucky girl! Next year she just might have to tromp up by herself. Or we'll have to go to a sled hill with an automatic rope tow... instead of a Daddy/Kissie/Pata-driven rope tow! Cora's tongue was out half the time trying to catch snowflakes.
Three on a $10 sled??? They fit!
Pata taking a turn. Watch out for the snow covered rock border at the bottom!
Another favorite pic!
On the receiving end of a snowball.

Tuckered out afterward...

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was full of sledding, shopping, and swimming. Jen and I spent the morning shopping at the outlets and picked up some stellar baby clothes deals. The condo had a heated outdoor neighborhood pool-- super cold getting in and out, but lovely to swim in the steamy warm water with snow all around outside. Cora and Violet haven't been swimming for a while and were in heaven. (Violet woke up the next morning and her first word was 'pool'!). Unfortunately, we have no swimming pictures due to the fact the once you got out of the pool, you had to run inside before turning into an icicle!

Christmas Eve, before everyone got too tired
Checking out the presents under the tree. I meant for the girls to open one Christmas Eve night, but they were so exhausted from swimming, sledding, and lots of playing that day, they barely made it through the nativity story.
We've been doing the nativity story at least once a week the month of December for FHE or whatever, and had the costumes and kid-friendly nativities out for the girls to play with all month too. The donkey, baby Jesus, and Mary costumes are always the biggest hits. We got our costume sets the last 2 years in after Christmas sales from Deseret Book at 80% off. Lucky for us, because this year they didn't carry them! We've just about got a complete collection now. The girls were pretty tired on Christmas Eve, Violet refused to have anything to do with dressing up, but reading the nativity story is one of my favorite traditions.
After the girls went to bed, we played games. We played lots of games that weekend! Pretty much every spare moment. It was so much fun, it's one of my favorite things about family get-togethers, but with kids, it just doesn't seem to happen as easily. Our favorites for the weekend were Squeak, Agricola, Rook, secret partners, and Inca Gold.

Christmas

The present openers

The stockings
Opening stocking gifts
A delicious Christmas breakfast!
Present opening--classic Christmas faces!
The adults got lots of help opening their presents too
Some present favorites--the princess phones and dress-up clothes (especially the tutus, princess shoes, beads, and crowns) have been a big hit.
The 'big' presents: Cora got a kid camera and Violet got some Duplos, which evidently we didn't get a still picture of. Poor second child. They also go some books, church bag goodies, pajamas, craft stuff, and hair do-dads. Cora blinded us all with close-up flashes in the face all weekend, and loves having her own camera. Violet has been excited to build even bigger towers than before! We relaxed after presents, and geared up for our dinner at the Canyons restaurant. It was fun to ride the gondola there, have an excellent meal, and have no prep or clean-up!

On the gondola
The restaurant was a buffet full of delicious items, plus chicken nuggets and mac and cheese that the kiddos loved. Yum!
Cora showing off her full tummy--she really loved the fruit, cheese, ham, and the kid dishes too! Both of the girls were impressive at sitting at the table being good for quite a while (with lots of help from Kissie and Kevin). Delicious and relaxing-- a great combo.
