Cora's New Numbers

Cora had her 2 month appointment at the pediatrician this morning. She weighs 10.5 pounds and is 23 inches long. She is in the 50% range for weight and head circumference, and 75% for length. Everything else looked great! She hated getting her shots, poor baby, and has had a hard day today, but hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Cora's Birth Announcement

Tummy Time

Cora can hold her head up pretty high for longer periods of time now! She usually likes her tummy time, but if she's tired of it she lets us know who's boss and just rolls over!

We try to do reading time every day!

Play time with the Mobile

Cora just in the past few days has begun to notice the mobile, and enjoys staring at the animals fly by. It is so much fun to watch her discover new things.

New Bathtub

Cora has been getting too big to bathe in the popcorn bowl in the kitchen sink for a while now. Lately, only her little bum has fit in, but we hadn't bought a tub yet. We finally got one last week, and she now enjoys her bath so much more!

Trip to Boise

I had my checkup with my midwife on Wednesday last week, right before Cora and I drove to Boise. She also weighed Cora, who now is a whopping 10 pounds 3 ounces!

Cora is talking tons now, smiling lots, and beginning to bat at objects in front of her. She also starting grabbing, and she has a very tight hold! She got a couple of handfuls of Grandma Jan's hair in Boise, and if she's still awake at all, she grabs Kevin's shirt collar with a death hold when he's about to lay her down.

Last night she began discovering her ability to control her hands to get her fists in her mouth. She put them in several times (after we kept pulling them out to see if it was a coincidence) and loved licking and sucking on them.

We had a great time in Boise with Mom and Dad, Puppy, Shad and Jen, and their dogs London and Butterscotch. We played the ultimate Settlers game with both add-on sets-- Cities and Knights and Seafarers. Cora and I skipped out of waterskiing after a sleepless night, but the rest had a lot of fun out on the boat!

Cora didn't seem to mind the ride there much, but had a difficult ride back-- we think she was tired of her car seat because she was crying crying crying from Tremonton to Ogden, but smiled and played with us when we stopped for gas, and then tensed up and started crying some more when she had to go back into her car seat (and cried from Bountiful to home). I guess it's a lot to ask of a little girl to sit strapped in for so long!

All dressed up

After church, Cora got dressed up and ready to party....
.... and took a few naps inbetween the partying-- here she is in Kevin's arms.

Blessing Dress

Cora was blessed by Kevin on Sunday, August 6th. Hoping for granddaughters someday, Grandma Jan and Grandpa Rod got Cora's dress when we went to Italy to pick Keyton up from his mission 4 years ago. The dress comes from Murano, Italy, the island known for lace by Venice. Cora loved having all the visitors that came for the blessing and gave us all lots of smiles, coos, and gurgles all weekend.

Fun with Cousin Emeline

Emeline is exactly 1 year and three months older than Cora. Emeline wasn't too sure about spending time with this small bundle that made a lot of noise, but by the end of the visit, she would kiss Cora and point to Cora's nose, ears, fingers, and toes.
Mom and Dad with their two favorite granddaughters!

Family Photos

We had a terrific time last weekend--Cora was blessed in church on Sunday, and lots of our family members were there to participate and celebrate. It was such fun to see everyone and have time to celebrate Cora's birth and visit. Thanks to everyone who came!
Our little family-- Kevin, Cora, and I on Cora's blessing day.
Kevin's family who came in from Portland, and Grandmother Pettitt from Alabama, minus Kurt, Kristen, Byron, and Sorayah who visited earlier.
My family who came in from Boise, Maryland, and Ogden.
Cousins, brothers, and dads who participated in the blessing with Kevin.

First Trip to the Studio

For Cora's one month birthday, we went to JC Penney's to get her photos taken. We had to wait quite a while for our appointment, and we weren't very smart and did her naked photos first-- which really got her angry, she still doesn't like to be without clothes! To protest, she soaked a blanket and Kevin before the picture taking started. Luckily, we had a super nice and patient photographer who still helped us get some great shots naked and in her frilly dress too. Maybe next time we can plan better to get more than 8 photos to choose from!

Sailor Sunday Dress

Cora didn't really appreciate this photo session-- she was pretty tired and didn't like being arranged for the camera. But I couldn't resist because I think this dress is so cute!

Cuddling with Uncle Kurt

Cora's uncle Kurt is staying with us for the week on his way back from basic training and jump school for the National Guard Reserves. Kurt (and Keri) will be at BYU this fall, so we're excited to have them close by!
