February Roundup

February 4 I had to get out and see the sun, so we fed the ducks.... From the bridge 'cause they were super aggressive today!

February 5 Watching our pitas puff!
February 9 Cheering for the Utes.... Just for one night! — at Utah Gymnastics.
February 13 Luke has just discovered that saying he needs to go potty trumps all and ensures a prompt response from me when I'm busy and he wants attention. Sigh. In other news, I need to find a new home for my kitchen sponges since Evelyn has decided that her new favorite thing to do is empty the dishtowel/sponge drawer, spread the towels all over the floor, and chew on the sponges. They are all washed, but still.... gross!

February 14 Nothing says Happy Valentines Day quite like a flat tire!

B Kevin Anderson February 14  Replacing a flat tire with a spare was not a task I had on my to-do's to start the day. But I am proud to say that if a Nascar team needed me to change tires, I am ready. Mission accomplished!!!

Zoo day with Heather and the boys! Perfect weather for letting the kids run around and release some energy!

Pony rides at Thanksgiving Point are always a favorite!

February 25 I found out this morning that Cora often switches her whole wheat pumpkin chocolate chip muffin out for chips at recess. She loves the muffins, but can't resist the chips. At least some kid at school is getting a healthy snack I guess!
February 25 Baby gate can't come soon enough! She's already wiggled through the chairs once!
February 28 She is trying so hard to figure it out. Don't think it will be long before we have to use the handle lock. She can hear the kids playing upstairs!

Evelyn at 10 months

A few notes about Evelyn now....
She loves to pull hair--ouch!
She is very interested in the remote and phones.
Evelyn is making more sounds now. She especially likes to growl!
She is more and more curious about everything around her and noticing new things.
She has two new top teeth!
She is a prop at drinking out of a sippee now.
Evelyn loves bath time.

Cora's Ancestor Project

For one of her school projects, Cora had to pick an ancestor who migrated and do a report on them. She chose her great-great-grandpa, Sozio DeGiulio, who emigrated from Italy.

Cora interviewed my dad about his grandpa, and Pata gave her lots of information and pictures to include in her report. It was fun for me to watch her learn more about our family history and put a cool book together.

Potty Training!

Armed with our 3 Day Potty Training manual, loads of mini oreos and nutter butters, skittles, stickers, potty charts galore, big boy undies, and mini matchbox cars, the first weekend in February was dedicated to potty training!
On Day 1 of potty training, Cora prayed that Luke would be able to run fast. A hearty Amen to that!

We played games, watched shows, colored, drank lots of chocolate milk and apple juice, and practiced running to the potty lots of times.  And cheered a lot and made lots of phone calls to daddy and grandparents to celebrate successes.

And, I am so proud and excited to say, after the 3 day program, Luke was officially potty trained! Really, it happened that fast. He has had maybe two accidents after that three day period (and I might as well add since I'm writing this much later, he has only a handful of accidents in the 8 months since he was potty trained, even at night!). He was ready, I didn't have to deal with lots of accidents or emergency runs to the bathroom in stores, and he is so proud of himself. It was totally worth the wait (just like his doctor said :)).
Way to go Luke!
