June round-up

We have a plot at the Herriman community gardens this year. It's our first year having a real garden (not just container plants on the patio). We planted the end of May, and harvested for the first time in mid-June-- bok choy and kale-- yum!
 Violet the climber
Sunday morning forts are fun!
One of Cora and Violet's to-do items most days in the summer is to write in their journal. Apparently, the best journaling spot is in the corner behind a chair.

Keeping Evelyn busy with a sucker at Jungle Jims. Maybe next time she'll be big enough to ride the rides instead of (not-so-patiently) watching.
 Violet lost tooth #3!
Cora and Bailee playing dress-up at Kissie's house.
Silly Evelyn loves to push the kids around on their plasma cars!

This picture is a little blurry, but I just love it. We visited Grandpa DeGiulio in the hospital when he had his leg surgery, and got to eat lunch with Pata and Grandma DeGiulio. So sweet to see us all together.
We took a trip out to Stansbury for an afternoon to visit friends. When I met most of these ladies, none of us had any kids, and when Kevin and I moved away, there were a handful of kids. Now look at them all! It was fun to visit, catch up, and let the kiddos run around!

Fun with friends

We were lucky to be able to get together with Amber and her kids twice this month! First, at the Children's Gardens at Thanksgiving Point.

And then later at Herriman Beach. It was a great day to be at the beach! The kids had lots of fun playing in the sand and swimming too.

Evelyn was delighted to be able to join in the fun!

Happy Happy Birthday, Cora Dear!

We celebrated Cora's birthday as a family a few days early, no complaints from Cora about that! Cora chose her favorite foods for her birthday meals: cinnamon rolls, eggs, applejuice, sausage; picnic lunch with lunchables and peapods; steak, carrots, and fruit for dinner. She chose donuts for her 'birthday cake'. Yum!
Kissie and Pata came to help celebrate! They gave her a family pass to Thanksgiving Point. Fun!
She's been dying to have a plasma car of her own!
Grandma and Grandpa's science kit present was a hit!
The kids get to have a friend birthday party every other year. Cora has been counting down to hers all year! She thought about several different themes, and settled on a backwards party. The kids had a lot of fun dressing up backwards, singing happy birthday backwards, and of course, eating cupcakes and opening presents first!

We had nametags for everyone with their names backward too. We hung balloons upside down, played pin the donkey on the tail, and had this fun photo booth set up with accessories.

We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood with a whole bunch of cute girls who are around Cora's age. We really lucked out!

Cora was delighted to be the center of attention on her special day!

We had several games, including a backward relay race. It was pretty hot, so I wasn't too surprised when a water fight broke out too! It was a fun night!

Fun with Kissie

We try to watch one of Kissie's marathons each year. This year we were lucky and she ran a marathon in Herriman! The kids loved making posters to cheer her on.

It ended up being a pretty tricky marathon for her, but she has an iron will and finished!
Luke was tired out from just watching. He fell asleep on the 10 minute drive from the finish line to lunch afterward.

We love spending time at City Creek with Kissie and Pata. Evelyn especially loved playing in the fountain this day.
We had to keep an eye on her so she didn't make a beeline to the big fountain!
One night we even stayed out late to watch the fire and water fountain show. Pretty cool!
Kissie took us to Discovery Gateway so the kids could play at the children's museum. Evelyn loves being tall enough to play in the water area!
