Happy Birthday Evelyn!

Evelyn's birthday fell on Saturday this year, so it was extra fun to do some family activities on her birthday! We went to Thanksgiving Point gardens to see the tulips. So pretty! Evelyn was in the stroller most of the time, but she did love feeding the fish and eating some mini donuts from one of the vendors.

We also stopped by the farm at Thanksgiving Point. Evelyn loves to ride the ponies, ride the wagon, and feed the goats. I think she is my youngest child to not mind them licking feed out of her hand! The baby sheep and goats were darling. There were baby bunnies and chicks too! We brought lots of quarters this trip so the kids could have lots of feed for the goats and fish.
Too bad I couldn't redo her hair after naptime-- but she didn't want to and it was her birthday!

Pony ride #2. We sure get a lot out of our membership!

We did take advantage of Evelyn's nap to dye eggs though. Much easier!

Kevin and I gave the kids their Easter baskets Saturday morning too, so the kids took advantage of the nice weather to blow bubbles.

Evelyn opened her presents first thing in the morning. She was so excited and knew exactly what to do. Once she tore off the paper from one, she went right back to the present pile for another! It went so fast, we called her the present tornado. The theme this year was Bubble Guppies-- Evelyn's favorite show. She got Bubble Guppy figures, socks, books, and a shirt. She was so excited! She also got a couple of summer outfits and a Minnie Mouse mini record player, since she likes the princess one Cora and Violet have so much.

We managed to succeed with choosing Evelyn's favorite foods for all her birthday meals! pancakes, eggs, juice, pizza, grapes, chocolate milk, broccoli, chicken nuggets, cheese puffs, cucumbers, donut holes. She was in heaven and there was no fussing this day about eating!

Our beautiful birthday girl decked out in Bubble Guppy gear! She looks so grownup!

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa!

With Kevin's new job, we aren't able to go to Oregon this summer (need to build up vacation time). So Kevin's parents decided to come visit us! The kids have been counting down the days for a long time! The kids were hacking the whole time Grandpa and Grandma were here, and my voice was gone the whole time too. It must have been special grandparent powers, they didn't get sick! We had a lot of fun, and I was so grateful for the help, especially while I wasn't feeling great.

We tried out the Utah Natural History Museum for the first time. It was fun, beautiful, and huge! I was impressed with the many hands on exhibits for kids. It's probably not a place we'd go more than every year or two, but it was a good experience. The kids especially liked this exhibit on the history of chocolate!
We had a little early birthday celebration for Evelyn. She has really liked carrot cake before, and the carrot cake cupcakes from Costco were a big hit! We would have done her whole big birthday celebration at this time, but I was still waiting for most of her presents to come in the mail.
 Sunday afternoon walk.
While Luke was at preschool, Grandma taught Cora and Violet how to use the sewing machine. They were in heaven planning all kinds of projects for their stuffed animals and dolls. I had been putting this off for a long time, so the girls were thrilled with patient Grandma!
We spent an afternoon at BYU. I had really wanted to see the Sacred Gifts Carl Bloch exhibit at the museum there, so this was a perfect chance to see it with a great adult to child ratio. The exhibit was beautiful! Many of the pieces had never left the chapels they are from, and won't leave again. So it was a pretty unique opportunity!

After we walked around campus seeing all the beautiful spring blossoms. It wasn't busy at all, and it was so nice to get some fresh air! We also spent a lot of time looking at the hands on displays in the Eyring Science Center lobby.

Dinner at the Brick Oven was delicious! And the kids loved getting balloon animals from a guy working for tips there.

Cora and Violet loved posing with flowers.

And of course, water is always a big hit!

Cora and Violet have had a few private lessons with Cora's tumbling teacher. Cora has really wanted to get her aerial and Violet has really wanted to get her backhandspring. So, they asked for some one-on-one time to help them get their tricks before tumbling ends before summer. Grandma and Grandpa got to come watch one of their lessons. Cora and Violet are hard workers and are doing really well!
Grandma and Grandpa were here for our neighborhood egg hunt too. It was a little crazy, and was over o-so-fast, but it was fun.

We also had dinner and played at City Creek, Grandma and Grandpa took the kids to see Rio 2, we visited Kissie and Pata, and walked around Temple Square. We certainly made the most of the 4 days!
