Violet's Birthday

Violet had a pretty mellow birthday, but full of fun things. The day started off with pink sparkly fingernails, which she loved... and tried to scrape off with her teeth (yuck! just a few fingernails at least). We took some pictures of her and she got to talk to Pata and Grandma and Grandpa on the phone, and even got a birthday song from Jarom and Emeline (which she still loves to listen to!). Great Grandpa and Grandma happened to be driving through Salt Lake that day, so they got to meet Luke, see our house, play with the kids, and wish Violet a happy birthday too.
Violet--post naptime and pre Kissie time, upset about wearing her birthday crown.
Kissie came over after naptime to give Violet her little present (big present comes this weekend!). She brought the balloons, which made everything feel more festive too. We went out for cookies and Violet loved choosing her favorite (as did Cora and I).
We met Kevin at Cafe Rio for dinner. I had asked Violet what she wanted for dinner-- pizza, cheese hamburger (as she calls it), or beans and rice. Beans and rice won!

Then it was home for present opening time. Our big present for Violet is coming later too (due to me being sick and spacing how much time Amazon needs to send big items). But she had so much fun opening her other presents. She and Cora have had a lot of fun with their 'Band in a Box' set. Cora picked out a princess camera for Violet for her gift. Violet started opening it and got all excited, saying "I love princesses!". The camera has been a big hit-- it doesn't take real pictures (it was $4) but it does say "You're as pretty as a princess" and other princess phrases when you push the button.
Dessert was cheese puffs (a rare favorite) and raspberries. I had asked Violet if she wanted cake, cookies, or brownies for her birthday, and she said cookies, so we'll do that with a candle with the second half of her birthday festivities this weekend. It was a fun day!

You are such a great Mom...I love how you make everything so fun for those little girls. I also love how the pictures show what good friends they are!

What a fun day! I absolutely love the picture with her holding up her "I am 2" shirt! That's such a smart idea to be able to look back and know exactly what birthday it was. Shes a cutie!
